I am one of the instructors for the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Certified Playground Safety Inspector Training and Certification Program. There are approximately 50-60 courses taught throughout the United States each year. The classes are scheduled by the local host in each state; typically the state park association. In California the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) is the host. The CPRS web page will frequently have more up to date information about the availability of California classes. There is a course calendar on the National Recreation and Park Association web site so you can look up the course dates in other states if that is more convenient for you.
Specialized Training Classes
We do not conduct regularly scheduled training programs but we do provide specialized training for specific clients. The classes will be customized to meet the specific needs of the client based on their choice of subject matter, the size of the class and the requirements of the specific group of participants.
For school districts and park agencies there may be several different programs based on the specific needs. We can design a course for principals, department management and risk management personnel to discuss risk management and liability, a separate course that concentrates on how to do high frequency, low frequency inspections or maintenance and a course to help prepare for taking the Certified Playground Safety Inspectors Training and Certification Course.
Separate programs can be provided for teachers, yard duty personnel and playground supervisors who are actively involved in playground supervision.
We provide training to prepare you for the requirements of the new ADA Standards for Accessibility(2010).
We also provide seminars for Child Care Associations such as the California Association For the Advancement of Young Children, California Parks and Recreation Society Districts and Sessions and other agencies. Subject matter may include subjects like the effects of the new ADA Standards (2011) on their agency or the revisions to the Playground Safety requirements of ASTM and or CPSC.
Please contact us to discuss your specific needs for training. We will be happy to design a program to your specific needs, discuss options and provide you with a quote.
